Injury Update: Masahiro Tanaka

Masahiro Tanaka said Wednesday that his throwing elbow feels good heading into spring training. As we know Tanaka has a partially torn UCL, a tear which the hurler has been playing through. How long can Tanaka play through the injury? Let's take a closer look. In the last three years four pitchers: Ervin Santana, Adam Wainwright, Scott Atchison, and Takashi Saito were able to pitch through the injury. However, all four would eventually go under the knife. This makes Tanaka a very risky fantasy option heading into the 2015 season. It's not if he will need TJ surgery, it's when.
