June 8th MLB Top Plays

Tonight in the MLB we have a nice 8 game slate, with very few great pitching options, especially on two pitcher sites. There are some weather concerns in spots, but early forecasts change all the time, so be alert to that as the day grows goes on. It appears to me that everyone is going to be on Toronto bats in cash games and probably GPPs as well, could be a good night to find a sleeper stack and hope for the best in your GPPs tonight.

7:05 PM EST : Milwaukee ( +146 ) at Pittsburgh ( -159 ) —- T: 7.5
7:07 PM EST : Miami ( +149 ) at Toronto ( -162 ) —- T: 9.0
7:10 PM EST : San Diego ( +123 ) at Atlanta ( -133 ) —- T: 7.5
7:10 PM EST : Philadelphia ( +107 ) at Cincinnati ( -116 ) —- T: 7.0
8:10 PM EST : Houston ( +139 ) at Chi Sox ( -151 ) —- T: 7.5
8:10 PM EST : Kansas City ( +100 ) at Minnesota ( -108 ) —- T: 8.5
8:40 PM EST : St. Louis ( -137 ) at Colorado ( +126 ) —- T: 10.0
10:10 PM EST : Arizona ( +144 ) at LA Dodgers ( -156 ) —- T: 7.5

Pitchers - Chris Sale has been dominant over his last two starts and carries a 5-2 record into tonight with 79 strikeouts. Sale is the clear cut number one pitcher you can roster tonight, after him it gets a little bit dicey. A.J Burnett is in consideration at 6-1 on the year with 64 strikeouts facing the Brewers tonight. I am a little weary of A.J tonight with weather concerns and the Brewers have been coming to life at the plate lately. The Cincinnati vs Philly game is interesting and has a low Vegas total but I don't like paying up for Cole Hamels nor do I trust Mike Leake of the Reds for a cash game.

Catcher - I am assuming Russ Martin or Dioner Navarro, both of the Blue Jays will be the top plays in cash games, depending on who gets the start tonight. However, you know I like to punt catcher all together and tonight I will be riding the streak of Francisco Cervelli who has at least one hit and a run scored in his last three starts for the Pirates. <span style=" white="" />

1st Base - A lot of good options here tonight, you can't go wrong with any of the top plays in cash games, so I want to look at some GPP plays. It's hard to say Joey Votto is a straight GPP play but for me tonight he is. Votto is riding a three game hit streak and makes for a sneaky play this evening. Pedro Alvarez is a cheaper option with homer upside, Pedro has hits in four of his last five and due for a big break out night.

2nd Base - Dee Gordon has hits in seven of his last eight and is a great play in all formats tonight. My guy Justin Turner is cheap tonight and if he is in the lineup I will have exposure to him as I always find a way to do so. Neil Walker has been on a tear lately and no one seems to talk about him much, Walker has homer potential and hitting in the middle of a productive Pirates lineup.

3rd Base - 3rd is a lot like 1st tonight with great top heavy options for your lineups so I want to look at some GPP plays. Yasmany Tomes has hits in his last five starts and always seems to fly under the radar in larger field tournaments. Will Middlebrooks only gets hits, the Padres 3rd basemen comes into tonight on a seven game hitting streak with two home runs over that span.

Shortstop - All aboard the Jhonny Peralta train tonight. Peralta is coming off a monster game going 3-4, two runs scored, and a home run. I want to make Peralta a staple in my cash games this evening. Alexei Ramirez has a six game hitting streak coming into tonight and could be a sneaky play not many people will be on.

Outfield - As always the top bats are always in consideration for cash and GPP lineups but in order to roster some top guys you need to find a value play or two. I don't think many people will be on Justin Upton tonight, so I like Upton even more for that reason in a large field tournament. If David Peralta gets the start for the Diamondbacks, don't hesitate putting him in a lineup or two, he can have massive nights out of nowhere and has done so this season a few times.

As I said earlier be alert for weather alerts as the day goes along, it is even more important to know the weather on these smaller MLB slates with fewer options. With that being said this concludes the write up for today, enjoy your day and good luck growing your bankroll!
