June 9th MLB Top Plays

Tonight in the MLB we have a large 15 game slate full of options at all positions. Especially after a smaller slate last night when ownership was high across most of the plays tonight is the complete opposite for the player. I really enjoy these larger slates, you can attack it from so many different angles which makes strategy so much more exciting to dive into.

7:05 PM EST : Boston ( -103 ) at Baltimore ( -105 ) —- T: 8.0

7:07 PM EST : Miami ( +126 ) at Toronto ( -137 ) —- T: 9.0
7:08 PM EST : Chi Cubs ( +104 ) at Detroit ( -113 ) —- T: 7.5
7:10 PM EST : SF Giants ( +114 ) at NY Mets ( -123 ) —- T: 7.0
7:10 PM EST : Philadelphia ( +126 ) at Cincinnati ( -137 ) —- T: 7.5
7:10 PM EST : San Diego ( -127 ) at Atlanta ( +117 ) —- T: 7.5

8:10 PM EST : Houston ( -133 ) at Chi Sox ( +123 ) —- T: 7.5
8:10 PM EST : Kansas City ( -103 ) at Minnesota ( -105 ) —- T: 8.5
8:40 PM EST : St. Louis ( -131 ) at Colorado ( +121 ) —- T: 10.0
10:05 PM EST : Texas ( +162 ) at Oakland ( -176 ) —- T: 7.0
10:10 PM EST : Arizona ( +145 ) at LA Dodgers ( -157 ) —- T: 7.5

Pitchers - Max Scherzer will be a cash game favorite for many, but he is actually the underdog tonight against the Yankees. Scherzer carries a 6-4 record with 90 strikeouts on the season, even being the underdog I can get behind some cash game shares of Max tonight. Corey Kluber has been on the wrong side of variance this season coming into tonight at 3-6, however he makes up for the losses with 106 strikeouts and I think Kluber is in a good spot to pick up a win tonight. Fransisco Liriano has historically struggled against the Brewers and could be a GPP play tonight if you think the Pirates will give Liriano some run support. Liriano is 3-4 on the season with 81 strikeouts. Michael Wacha pitching in Coors tonight could be a really low owned pitcher in a GPP setting, not to mention Wacha is 8-1 on the year, that is hard to ignore. If you need a salary relief pitcher tonight, Carlos Rodon isn't a bad option. Rodon is 1-0 with 35 strikeouts and could save you a lot of money and have a decent amount of strikeouts this evening.

Catcher - I don't like the position a lot of the top plays are here tonight at catcher, I think Russell Martin is in the best spot if you aren't punting catcher like I tend to do. I am going to be on Yan Gomes tonight, he has hits in his last four spots and really cheap if you need help fitting bats into your lineup.

1st Base - I like Anthony Rizzo a lot tonight, Rizzo has a 12 game hitting streak coming into tonight and 8 hits in his last four with two home runs. Chris Davis is a little bit cheaper than Rizzo and has hits in three of his last four, I can get behind some Davis shares tonight. Another guy I want some exposure too is Yonder Alonso, who has five hits in his last three with a home run, and a guy I don't think will be highly owned in a larger field tournament.

2nd Base - Dee Gordon and Brian Dozier both let down a lot of owners last night, for that reason alone I want exposure to them. Howie Kendrick had a solid game last night collecting three hits and two runs scored, could be in line for a similar line again tonight. Matt Duffy is a guy I don't think gets enough credit for the Giants, Duffy does have hits in his last three and could collect multiple hits again tonight.

3rd Base - It is getting nearly impossible to fade Josh Donaldson in cash games at whatever price he is at, coming off a monster night I expect his ownership to be high tonight in all formats. I like Josh Harrison tonight to pick up multiple hits and score a run or two. Harrison has been quiet lately and will be a sneaky large field play this evening. David Freese is carrying an eleven game hitting streak into tonight and a guy I want exposure to facing Nathan Karns of the Rays.

Shortstop - Jhonny Peralta let down a large amount of us last night, which makes me like him even more tonight in a large field setting. Troy Tulowitzski has been hot and staying hot, hitting another home run last night. Tulowitski will be a nice cash game play. Ruben Tejada has cheaply and quietly been really productive over his last ten games makes for a nice cheap play tonight.

Outfield - A lot of great options tonight in the outfield. I can get behind Andrew McCutchen tonight in a GPP setting as well as Starling Marte, both should be low owned this evening. Adam Jones has homers in three of his last four and hard to not roster in cash games right now.  When Jones gets hot these numbers are expected from a player of his caliber. Is tonight the Michael Brantley double homer game I have been waiting on? Brantley has hits in his last six starts and has the power to change your whole lineup with one swing, don't sleep on Brantley tonight. Josh Reddick is in good spot tonight, Reddick has seven hits in his last five with a home run, I will have some exposure to him this evening.

-That will wrap up my piece for the day I hope you enjoy it. As always enjoy your day and good luck growing your bankroll on this nice large slate tonight in the MLB!
